Taylor Potts deserves more respect...

I have been a Texas Tech fan my entire life. I graduated from Tech, and I've been a fan through the good and bad. I've seen it all, and I can honestly say that I've always stayed behind the team and the players that lead them each year. It is for that reason why it still angers me when I see alleged fans bail on a player because of a bad game.
Taylor Potts did not play very well in the first half of the game today against New Mexico and left the game early due to head injury. Back-up quarterback, Steven Sheffield, came in leading Tech to four consecutive scoring drives and eventually a victory. This has led to many bandwagon fans trashing Potts, and claiming that Sheffield should have been the starter.
All of this has reminded me of Graham Harrell's sophomore year and first year as the starting QB when he had to deal with a very similiar situation. I was behind Harrell through the good and bad games, and I will do the same for Taylor Potts. I guess some fans have forgotten the way that TP fought on the road against the Texas Longhorns. He's earned my respect, and I'm not going to bail on him because of a bad first half where he had to leave the game due to head injury.
Taylor Potts gives his best every game, and he's a great person off the field as well. Those reasons alone should be enough Red Raider fans to stay behind him through the good games and the bad games.
Wreck 'em Tech!

Complete agreement here. It seems like the backup qb is always the most popular player. I can't count how many times I heard that Graham should have been benched and that Chris Todd should be starting. Who knows what would have happened, but we had one hell of a ride last year. I even told a UT grad coworker of mine last year before the season started that we'd be 10-0 going into Norman. It was a team built for making a run in 2008. It was the perfect storm. I said before the season started that this was an 8-4 team because Potts was going to go through growing pains and the O-line would be rebuilt and that 2010 was going to be another year of very high expectations. While I think it's a good thing that Tech expectations have risen, we're not yet a team that can just reload like the USC, UT, tOSU, and OU's of the world. There are still plenty of fans who are standing behind Potts including myself. I also stood behind Graham even after he threw back to back pick 6's against Missouri. With that said, Potts is the guy for the next 2 seasons. He's gonna improve as the season goes on, then decimate all next season. Wreck 'Em!

Hey dude, I like Taylor Potts as much as the next guy, but maybe Sheffield doesn't get as much respect as he deserves. Potts QB rating for the year is 135...Sheffield-177. Also, tech's only loss where Sheffield even played 1 snap was the OK state game in which sheffield was playing with a broken foot.
